Sandro Papais is a mechanical engineering student at McGill University. He was an intern with the International Lunar Exploration Working Group (ILEWG) at the European Space Agency (ESA/ESTEC) under the supervision of Prof. Bernard Foing. He previously worked at Pratt & Whitney Canada as a reliability engineering intern and at several start-ups in business development and operations roles. He wrote a research thesis on satellite estimation and navigation in deep space under supervision of Prof. James Forbes. He has also been the director of McGill Rocket Team for the past two years. In his time with the group they have launched 6 sounding rockets up to 30,000 feet, static tested a student made hybrid rocket engine, and placed first overall at the Spaceport America Cup against 124 international universities. He has also been actively involved in the Canadian Rocketry Consortium, Montreal Student Space Association, and Canadian Space Society.
